Manufacturing and selling of Calan-Verapamil Hcl medicine approved
by Food and Drugs Administration - FDA during March 1982 meant for
treating chest pain like angina, high blood pressure or hypertension
and irregular heartbeats. Calan-Verapamil Hcl belongs to the group
of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It is believed to block
the movement of calcium into the muscle cells of coronary arteries
that supply the blood besides other arteries in the body. As calcium
triggers muscle contraction and blocking calcium entry relaxes the
arterial muscles. Such relaxation helps the arteries to expand
permitting more blood supply.
Calan-Verapamil Hcl is effective in preventing chest pain or angina
occurring from spasms of coronary arteries that decreases the flow
of blood to the heart. Relaxing the muscle lining, the arteries in
the body lowers blood pressure which helps decrease pressure against
which the heart pumps blood. This in turn permits the heart function
normal and need normal oxygen-carrying blood supply. This permits
heart working with decreased flow of blood caused by coronary artery
ailment and put off angina which usually develops following
insufficient blood supply to the heart. The drug is also believed to
reduce the conduction of electrical impulses through the heart which
regulates the coordination of contraction. This effects slow down
the rate of contraction.
Calan-Verapamil Hcl is the prescription category of medication and
its dosage should be taken strictly as directed by the physician.
The medication has been approved for its dose strengths such as: 40,
80, 120mg in immediate release tablet forms, 120, 180, 240, 360mg in
sustained release caplet form, 100, 120, 180, 200, 240, 300mg in
